Overview
All degree programs at GCI require the completion of 36 credits over 4 semesters(2 years). Students must complete required core studies, degree foundations, track specializations, elective courses, and a final thesis project in order to graduate.

Curriculum Structure
Core Studies
- 1 required course (3 credits)
- Required for all students as a foundational course.
- Focuses on shared foundations across media, theory, and technology.
Degree Foundations
- 2 required courses (6 credits)
- Vary by degree type.
- Designed to establish degree-specific foundations prior to track-based study.
Track Specializations
- Courses designated by each specialized track.
- Provides in-depth training aligned with each track’s specialization.
Elective Courses
- Students may select elective courses across different tracks.
- Courses offered by other tracks may be taken as electives.
- Allows interdisciplinary exploration within GCI programs.
Thesis Project
- Consists of:
- Advanced Thesis Studio (6 credits): Focuses on the development and completion of an original thesis work, which may take the form of a written thesis or a graduation exhibition.
- Graduate Writing Seminar (3 credits) : Provides critical discussion, feedback, and guidance for the refinement, presentation, and completion of the thesis project. - Mandatory in the final semester
- Supervised by a faculty advisor
- Final evaluation conducted by a faculty committee
* Students are expected to demonstrate advanced research, creative, or technical proficiency appropriate to their degree program.
